How to Set Up the Lightboard

Read this section to learn how to properly set up the Lightboard and its associated equipment. A basic set-up guide, component checklist, and a quiz to test your knowledge are all below. Once you've passed the Lightboard Set-Up Quiz, check out the Filming Specifications Page.

Basic Set-Up 

  1. Set up Lightboard (A) at least four feet in front of black backdrop (B)

  2. Plug in the Lightboard

  3. Turn it on and set the light color to a slightly warm white.

  4. Set up studio lights (C & D) on either side of the Lightboard so that presenter will be illuminated, but no light will hit Lightboard or backdrop.

  5. Set up camera (E) at least eight feet back from the board.

  6. Attach microphone (F) to Lightboard frame or to presenter.

  7. Provide presenter with fluorescent marker and cleaning cloth.

  8. Turn off non-essential lights.
